Wayne was 'very close' to losing his eye to skin cancer. His doctor urges sun safety to be taken seriously

 Like many Australians, Wayne Grimley grew up spending a lot of time in the sun. His family had lax views about sunburn and sun safety.

"[I was] in the water from dawn to dusk," he said of his childhood on the Gold Coast. 

"The grandparents said, 'Summer's coming on, you get a nice little burn to start the season.'"

Decades later, Mr Grimley still spends time outdoors, but his attitude towards sun safety has changed after finding a basal cell carcinoma (BCC) skin cancer near his eye.

Santos confirms Cooper Basin pipeline explosion, as protesters converge on company AGM

 Oil and gas company Santos has confirmed a pipeline in South Australia exploded in January, as Aboriginal traditional owners walked out of a heated Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Adelaide. The South Australian Department for Energy and Mining (DEM) said it was notified about the incident, which occurred at the Big Lake gas field in the Cooper Basin on January 25. Resources website Energy News Bulletin described it as a "major explosion", citing anonymous Santos managers and on-site workers. The pipeline runs to the Moomba processing facility 750 kilometres north-east of Adelaide.
