Man killed in horror crane accident on northern Gold Coast

 Upon arrival, they found a man aged in his 40s suffering critical ‘crush injuries’.

Despite their desperate attempts to save him, the man could not be revived and died at the scene.

Workplace Health and Safety is investigating.

Gold Coast's Hollywood Showgirls nightclub operator charged with stealing mobile phone

 Gold Coast nightclub owner Craig Duffy has been charged with stealing after an alleged incident between the glitter strip entrepreneur and a body corporate member outside his Surfers Paradise strip club, Hollywood Showgirls. Mr Duffy — a former Australian pool champion — will front the Southport Magistrates Court on September 7 after being charged with stealing a mobile phone on August 12. Anzac Day commemorations give hope to World War II veteran who saw Sydney Harbour bombed

 Nearly 81 years ago, Merv Latham was patrolling Sydney Harbour with the Navy cadets. "There was a lot of noise and a kerfuffle — we didn't know what it was," he said. "It was a shock to everybody." A Japanese mini submarine had breached the harbour's defences, sinking HMAS Kuttabal and killing 21 Australians on board. World War II had reached Sydney.
