Mondrian brand to debut in Australia in 2023

 Accor and partner SBE have signed an agreement to bring the Mondrian brand to Australia, with both a hotel and residential apartments set to open in 2023 on the Gold Coast.


The Mondrian Gold Coast will be developed in collaboration with Chris and Letitia Vitale’s Vitale Projects and will occupy two towers on a 4,037 sqm site at the world-famous Burleigh Heads Beach. The property will have 80 metres of ocean frontage and guests will have direct access to the beach.

Santos confirms Cooper Basin pipeline explosion, as protesters converge on company AGM

 Oil and gas company Santos has confirmed a pipeline in South Australia exploded in January, as Aboriginal traditional owners walked out of a heated Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Adelaide. The South Australian Department for Energy and Mining (DEM) said it was notified about the incident, which occurred at the Big Lake gas field in the Cooper Basin on January 25. Resources website Energy News Bulletin described it as a "major explosion", citing anonymous Santos managers and on-site workers. The pipeline runs to the Moomba processing facility 750 kilometres north-east of Adelaide.
